On the 20th and 21st of April 2022, the kick-off meeting (KOM) of D3PO: Dimension 3 – Printed puzzles for new therapeutic Opportunities project took place in Piraeus (Greece) and the consortium partner has been hosted by IDEC.
The Kick-off meeting was a fantastic moment were all partners (Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece) could explain and demonstrate their own expertise.
The 2 day of meeting were full of activities (presentation, workshop, learning session and so on…) and they were set up according to a clear agenda. The coordinator “ASPAYM” explained in a clear way the overall project in its activities, responsibilities and time schedule.
D3PO is a project supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme, Key Action 2 – Cooperation partnerships in adult education. The project D3PO aims to create an inclusive learning process based on playable mechanics through 3D printable puzzles.
Use traditional cognitive development mechanics (puzzles) with a modern narrative-based approach (like escape rooms), which can be distributed to the general public in an economical and safe way (3D printing) and that allow the acquisition of competences such as teamwork, creativity or lateral thinking, extremely useful in the work environment, while promoting inclusivity, tolerance and the value of the individual as a fundamental pillar of the society of the future. It started in February 2022 and the consortium will finish the implementation at the end of February 2024.
From this main objective there are several specific objectives and products to develop during the implementation of the project:
IO1 – 3D PUZZLES TOOLKIT – The design of a collection of 3D printable puzzles and a professional manual where the reader can learn how to assemble the puzzle, solve it and put it back together.
IO2 – METHODOLOGY OF 3D PRINTED PUZZLES APPLIED TO PHYSICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING – A new methodology to help people develop soft skills in teams and/or improving their physical/psychological well-being based on 3D printed puzzles with narrative.
In the coming months the partners will be looking for a concept for 1-2 puzzles to be developed. What kind of storytelling the puzzles could have, it will also be fundamental to identify the category of target group that will be involved in this phase of implantation and testing in the following months. In addition, the next Learning Training Teaching Activity has been set, and will be held in Palermo (Italy) in the facilities of CEIPES in July. During this training, participants from the entire consortium will be taught about additive manufacturing, thanks to the experience in the field of three-dimensional modelling by the partner CETEM.
